wHO IS "tHE LAST WITNESS"?

Since Jesus gave up his life on the Cross, there have been many witnesses, men and women whose lives were so profoundly changed by the realization of His love, that they gave up everything they were to follow Him and teach His ways. They justly lived by faith, choosing the spiritual world, the heavenly realm that is unseen but eternal, rather than relying on the worldly realm, that which is seen but temporary.

Who will be the last, the one who will bring a great harvest of souls to Christ just before His return?    And who will want to stop him?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rick Shorrock has held many jobs, from pharmacy technician to videographer, but since a young age, his heart has always been that of a writer. "I remember sitting around the kitchen table, when I was twelve, and the kids of the family were discussing what they wanted to do when they grew up. I got to go last, being the youngest of the group, and after my siblings listed "sensible" professions, I said I wanted to make movies about the Bible."

So why "The Last Witness"? why now?

As it happened, the story sprung from tragedy. Or, rather, the answers to the outcome of the tragedy. "I was sixteen years old when the bus crash happened," Shorrock explains. "My father and I moved from a big city to a small town. We lived in a trailer park temporarily, while our house was being built only two miles away. One week after we moved into the newly-completed home, the bus I previously rode to school traveled its usual route from the trailer park to the high school, passing through the green-lit intersection of a major highway, just as it had countless times before. Except on this morning, a thick fog had settled on the area, and a semi, traveling down the highway, ran the red light at the intersection where the bus was crossing. The semi hit the side of the bus on the right side, opening it like a sardine can. Many kids lost arms and legs in the accident, and four children and the driver lost their lives. My Dad and I went to visit some friends at the trailer park a few months later, and the subject of the accident came up because I noticed that one child was missing from the park. He was this kid you always saw riding his Big Wheel around. Every time you came to the park, you'd see him. He was this happy-go-lucky little guy who was always smiling. Not a care in the world. I asked one of our friends where he was. I was told he was one of the kids that died on the bus that fateful morning. Fearing the worst, I asked where the bus got hit. Our friend explained the bus was hit on the right side, four seats from the front. Apparently the boy sat right where the bus was impacted. My father told me later that my face went ash white at this explanation. All I know is he asked me what was wrong."

"Four seats from the front, on the right hand side, is where I used to sit, and that's what I told them. The realization that I would have been sitting in that same seat that morning, had I not moved just two miles down the street, haunted me for many years. Decades, in fact. What right did I have to be spared? What made me more important than this precious little kid who never hurt anyone? What was I supposed to do to seek the answers to these questions?"

"So writing the book was very therapeutic for me, and God equipped me to move my feelings off myself and onto paper. Through the writing process, God showed me what he wanted me to do, what my ministry was to become, and it was to involve writing. So it's my hope that the readers of "The Last Witness" will realize their own potential and place in the Body of Christ. I've always thought of the story being part of a larger ministry, and "The Last Witness" is just the start."

what readers are saying about "The last witness"

"'The Last Witness' proves that the supernatural is more real and more compelling than anything the natural mind could produce. Because it comes from another realm, the depth of its ability to uncover what actually was and to reveal what really is, and is to come, is limitless. Even unbelievers will develop a sense of urgency to not be deceived, but to put their minds in a place where they grasp the urgency that they, too, must begin to wonder, who is THE LAST?"    ---Pastor Margo Holmes

"God has inspired Rick with fresh manna. The characters draw you in and come alive. ("The Last Witness") is a 'can't put down' book that will give you much to think about." ---- Senior Pastor Dr. Okey Nichols

"My first thoughts (after reading "The Last Witness") were 'This would make a good movie!'"---Pastor Danny Ray Brady
